Annabelle Drumm Arts Workshops available in or out of Sydney Australia

There are many courses and diplomas in the world teaching how to perfect the craft and skills of a professional Visual or Performing Artist. However, many of these courses are sadly lacking in the business side of Show Business. How to set up as an independent freelancer, how to work with Agents and Managers, building a unique brand, coping with feast or famine money flow, building a following and negotiating contracts.

Annabelle Drumm uses her many years of experience to create workshops for Artists bespoke to their level and needs.

Her background includes 9 years as a professional Performing Artist, 6 years Artistic Director of a self sustaining Dance Company and 15 years running a multi-national Booking Agency for Performers.

Annabelle moved into Creative Business Coaching in 2009 for professionals and entrepreneurs. Here she found much of her knowledge and skills in business were transferable to many creative industries – writing, media, sports, design, entertainment, marketing and advertising.

Business Coaching is a lucrative business but she felt the people that needed her most were the Artists who didn’t have the money for one-to-one coaching. So, she has created a series of career and business workshops specifically for Artists. Beginner workshops help secondary students and tertiary level students launch into a professional career. Mid-level workshops go into more detail for professionals wanting to refine their offering, work smarter not harder and build their brand.

Each workshop is offered as 2 x 4 hours a week apart. This way there is not so much information as to overwhelm. Plus, the week in between allows students to integrate their learning, get homework done and report back the next week with their results.

It is recommended you consider spreading the workshops over a year – say one workshop each quarter which makes it easy for you to include in your annual budget.

Smaller groups mean the students get more personal attention – preferably 5-10 participants. Larger groups are possible but will be less bespoke.

There are plenty of general business coaches and mentors around, but many provide only very broad, high level, sweeping generalisations from a corporate, organisational sense – most of which are not particularly applicable for emerging artists. Annabelle’s sessions were full of practical advice, specifically related to the art’s industry….

As a pathways initiative, the course she delivered provided a critical link between tertiary studies and launching as a resilient, independent professional readying the participants for future creative work… she delivered so much more than expected.
